- [S4] Obituary.
Judith "Judy" Ann Laugel passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013, with her family by her side. A celebration of Judy’s life will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 24, at First United Presbyterian Church in Loveland. Judy was born Jan. 9, 1940, in Tonkawa, Okla., to Grace Lucille and Kenneth Marlin Watkins. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1958 and attended the University of Colorado where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education. She was united in marriage to Joseph Laugel on Oct. 24, 1964. She taught kindergarten for two years before starting their family. In 1980 she started the Colorado Popcorn Factory and shipped popcorn all over country. After selling the business in 1987, the family moved to Loveland and in 1993 she started a career as an insurance broker and worked until she could no longer. She had many clients and friends that she met along the way. Judy had a love for gardening. It was not uncommon for her to visit a greenhouse several times a week to satisfy her need to have beautiful flowers. Her yards were transformed many times over into beautiful gardens that were the envy of any neighborhood. One of her favorite days of the year was "Laugel Family Fun Day" where she and her three sons would go to Denver and cheer on her Broncos. She loved to cook and host gatherings with family and friends. She was always caring toward and for others. She is survived by her sons, Brad and wife Stephanie, Jeff and wife Mindy, Mike and wife Jeny, all residing in Loveland; and five dearly loved grandchildren, Weston, Tanner, Jack, Riley and Eva. She is also survived by her close friend and cousin, Linda Daniel of Fort Collins. It was always a great joy for her to have her grandchildren over, and it was a real treat for all of the grandkids. Over the past six years Judy had a very special friend in Jerry Forte. They had lunch almost every day together and enjoyed each other’s company greatly. She also loved her dear friends as well as her loyal furry friends, Maggie and Molly. Judy was preceded in death by her husband Joe in March 2003. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to American Cancer Society - Relay For Life in care of Home State Bank.
