ROGGMANN, Virginia "Ginny," 96, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, peacefully died at the Masonic Home of Virginia in Richmond on May 7, 2014. Virginia was born April 16, 1918 in Lynn, Massachusetts to Verne and Ruby (Marchant) Hawes. As a child, Virginia moved to Saginaw, Michigan with her family. Virginia married Clarence H. Roggmann in Saginaw, Michigan, May 22, 1937. Clarence predeceased Virginia in 2006. Clarence’s career took them from Saginaw to Vermont, and eventually Waynesboro, Va. During their marriage, Virginia supported Clarence’s business endeavors. Additionally, she made significant contributions to her communities, including rehabilitation services for the physically challenged, and numerous church related volunteer activities for Grace Lutheran Church. Music was an especially important focus for her. Wherever she lived, she contributed her vocal talents to church choirs and Sweet Adeline groups. Throughout their 69 years of marriage, they enjoyed camping and traveling throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. Virginia was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Maturn and Verna Wressell, both of Saginaw; and her brother, Verne A. Hawes of Charleston, S.C. She is survived by her daughters, Sally Collins (Michael) of Hendersonville, N.C. and Susan Grizzard (C.G.) of Richmond, Va.; and her son, Jack Roggmann (Donna) of Newport News, Va. Virginia is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Michelle Collins Karaffa (Steve), Kelly Collins Kanipe (Chris), Robert Grizzard (Kathy), Amy Grizzard Press (Bill), Sarah Roggmann McHenrey and Michael Roggmann (Courtney). In addition, Virginia is survived by 10 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, at Riverview Cemetery in Waynesboro Virginia. A memorial service will be held at The Masonic Home of Virginia on May 31, at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Home of Virginia, 4101 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, Va. 23223, or Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church’s Organ Fund, 500 South Wayne Ave., Waynesboro, Va. 22980.
