Peacefully in her sleep,
Esther Annie Ruby McLeod passed away, Wednesday, March 22, 2000 in Park Manor at the age of 98.
She will be lovingly remembered by her family, son William (Red) McLeod (Dorothy) daughter Lorraine Hagen (Fred Bellevare) daughter-in-law Antoinette Rand; 11 grandchildren, Earl, Brian, Donna, Cathy, Debbie, Heather, Wendy, Sandi, Ian, Karen and Kristina; ten great-grandchildren, Sean, Diane, David, Mark, Elizabeth, Corinne, Gordon, Brennan, Andrew and Derek and two great-great-grandchildren, Kira and Hailey and by her former daughter-in-law June McLeod.
Esther was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) sons, Everett and Clarence, four brothers and six sisters.
She was born near Crystal City, Man. on May 11, 1901 where her parents Silas and Sarah Rand homesteaded. She moved to Winnipeg and Christmas Eve 1931 she married William McLeod. Bill and Esther lived in their Harvard Avenue home raising their family. Esther was an accomplished old-time fiddler and won many prizes playing. Her hobbies were gardening, sewing and quilting. She enjoyed spending the summers at the cottage at Wade, Ont. with her family. Esther was a proud member of the Transcona Rebecca Lodge.
The family wishes to thank her wonderful neighbours and friends for enabling her to live in her own home until after her 98th birthday. The family also sends thanks to the staff of Park Manor for their dedicated care. Funeral services will take place Monday, March 27 at 1:30 p.m. in the Transcona Funeral Home, 1800 Day St., Transcona. Rev. Carol Fletcher will officiate. Cremation has taken place. A private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
