The death of
Everett Earl Rand occurred at Selkirk General Hospital on Tuesday, November 16, 1999. He was in his 82nd year of life.
His memory will lovingly be held in the heart of his wife of 60 years of marriage Antoinette, and his three children; Earl (Elizabeth) Rand of St. Albert, Brian (Joyce) Rand of Winnipeg, and Donna (Wayne) Jessee of Calgary, his mother Esther McLeod, brother William McLeod and sister Lorraine Hagen, and also by five grandchildren; Sean, Diane and David Rand, Mark and Elizabeth Jessee and two great-grandchildren Kira and Hailey Rand.
Everett was pre-deceased by his stepfather William McLeod and his brother Clarence McLeod.
Everett volunteered in the Royal Canadian Navy at the outset of the Second World War and served his country as a shipwright in Halifax, and Shelburne Nova Scotia before being honourably discharged at wars end achieving the rank CPO 1st Class. Everett was a member of the Masonic Order Ionic Lodge of Rainy River, Ontario and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Transcona Branch. He was a member of the Transcona Curling Club. He joined the CNR at an early age and served for 42 years prior to taking early retirement in 1978. He began his employment as an apprentice in the Transcona Shops and subsequently served with distinction as Car Foreman in Rainy River, Ontario and Dauphin and Symington Yards in Manitoba. "Ev" and Tonis (as they were affectionately known) special place on earth was their cottage at Morson, on Lake of the Woods, Ontario. They spent their summer seasons from 1963-1999, enjoying the beauty, peace and tranquility of that pristine area and revelling in the visits of family and friends. Everett Earl Rand was son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and fulfilled these roles with honor, dignity, grace, compassion and a sense of caring that blessed all who knew him.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. A. Wozny and Dr. G. Fuchs and the entire Nursing Staff of the Selkirk General Hospital for their dedicated service and compassion to our husband and father. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 19, at 2:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., Transcona. Rev. Dr. Robert Galston will officiate with interment to follow in Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Everett donations to the Heart and Stroke Fund or the Transcona Memorial United Church MEMORIAL FUND would be gratefully appreciated.
