Janice DeWitt Margeson Mills, died in Orlando, Florida on March 15, 2018 at 79 years of age. She was born in Weymouth on October 16, 1938, the daughter of C. LeBaron Margeson and Marjorie DeWitt Margeson.
She graduated from Weymouth High School, Bates College, and Framingham State College (masters degree). She taught school and then spent 31 years with her ex-husband, Earl H. Mills Sr, as owner/manager of the Flume Restaurant in Mashpee. She served 38 years on the Mashpee School Committee including a term as chairman. She was an active member and president at one time of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees. Jan was an artist and had talents for sewing and water colors. She moved to Central Florida four years ago to be near family. Jan was particularly proud of her daughter Nancy Oakley Mills, a schoolteacher and realtor, currently residing in Mashpee.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by Nancy, her brother, Kenneth Margeson, sister-in-law, Trisha Margeson, and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 9, at 11 a.m.at the Old Indian Meeting House, 410 Meetinghouse Road in Mashpee, MA. A short reception will follow at the Industry Ale House, 79 Route 130 in Sandwich, MA.
