- [S4] Obituary.
HOFFER, Paul Vincent — age 64 yrs of Weston, NS, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, in his wife’s loving arms after a very short illness. Born in Cardiff, Wales, UK,he was a son of Margaret (Nunan) Hoffer, Cardiff, Wales and the late Norman Hoffer. Paul completed an electrical apprenticeship while in his mid-teens and had worked as an electrician all his life in all areas of electrical, lastly being employed with IEL at Michelin for several years. Paul’s two passions were ornithology and skywatching. By day you’d see him with his Audubon bird book, bag of seed and binoculars and by night with his telescope on the deck where he enjoyed many hours gazing at the stars, constellations or any sky event happening. He loved the outdoors, as well as all the nightly critters that came from living in the country. During the week he was a provider, working at a job he loved but the weekends were his time for watching UK soccer and rugby and old movies in the evenings. Paul loved being with family, friends and helping anyone who needed a hand. Paul was a very proud man and loyal friend to all that knew him. Besides his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Elaine (Chute), Weston; daughter, Simone Hoffer (Stephen Jenkins), Pontllanfraith, Wales; son, Nathan Hoffer, Caerphilly, Wales; step-daughter, Julie Veinot (Steve Akin), Nictaux; sister, Kathryn (John Devane); brothers, David (Patricia), Mark (Merryl), Phillip (Karen), all of Cardiff, Wales; 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his step-son, Jason Dykens. In keeping with Paul’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a gathering to celebrate his life will be held at 4 p.m., on Sunday, July 14. Family and friends are welcome to gather for a potluck meal to share memories at the family home, 601 Long Point Road in Weston. Special thanks to Dr. Ziarati, the Palliative Care Team and the VON. Without these caring hands and hearts, I’d have never been able to fulfill Paul’s last wishes. God Bless you all.
