Muriel Clark Wilson MacLeod, 98, of Concord died Feb. 22, 2014, at Harris Hill Center. Born in Monroe, Maine, she was the daughter of Ralph A. Clark and Myra (Bailey) Clark of Brooks, Maine. A graduate of Morse High School, Brooks, and the University of Maine-Gorham Normal School in 1939, she taught elementary school for 35 years in Walpole, Concord, Allenstown and Warner. She also worked as a representative for the Paul Revere Life Insurance Co. She was the widow of Norman R. MacLeod of Gould Station, Quebec, and Concord, who died in 1981, and also of Hoyt W. Wilson of Walpole, who was killed in action in 1943 while on active duty with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
She was predeceased by three brothers: Harland B. Clark of Manchester, Conn., Milton J. Clark of Belmont, Maine, and Delmont E. Clark of Brooks, Maine. Family members include daughter, Heather M. Erickson and her husband, Thomas E. Erickson, of Marietta, Ga.; daughter Merideth C. MacLeod and her husband, George Geers, of Concord; and grandsons Logan M. Erickson of Atlanta, Ga., and Seth T. Erickson of Memphis, Tenn. She is survived by her cousin, Gwenolyn B. Darling of Manchester, and by her sister-in-law, Marie Clark, of Belmont, Maine. She is also survived by seven nieces, two nephews, and several cousins and close friends. For many years, she had been a member of South Congregational Church, where she was a member of the Ever-Ready Circle, and also of the Jackson (Maine) Congregational Church. She also had been a member of the UU Benevolent Society, the Downing Club, the Merrimack Valley Retired Teachers Association, and the Order of the Eastern Star. The family wishes to extend its thanks to the staff members of Harris Hill Center for their many years of love and care for Muriel. A gathering to celebrate her life will be hosted by her family. Interment will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bennett Funeral Home, Concord.
