SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT —
Walter Francis May, formerly of Leominster, Massachusetts died on August 29, 2014.
Walter was born on April 8, 1933 in College Point, New York, the son of the late Earl and Alice (Blaser) May. He attended school in Hubbardston, MA and graduated from Gardner High School. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in France and Germany with the 586th Ordnance Company during the Korean War. He studied both Aviation Technology and Mechanical Design Drafting, and he later worked in the automotive industry for over 35 years. He became the Service Manager for a local Mercedes Benz dealership and enjoyed the relationships he built with his many customers and employees.
He was one of the founding members of the Montachusett Race League spending many weekends helping with alpine ski races and furthered his love of skiing as a member of the National Ski Patrol at Pheasant Run for many years. An avid fisherman, golfer, and skier, he always loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his family on camping trips. Creative and hardworking, he was a skilled craftsman who always had a project going.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife Trudy M. (Kellett) May; they were married for 49 years. He was a wonderful and caring husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his son Michael and daughter-in-law Mary, his daughter Brenda-Lee May Prescott and son-in-law Jody Prescott, of South Burlington, VT. and his grandchildren Eliza and Hannah Prescott and Jack May. He is survived by his brother Thomas E. May of Gardner, MA. and his niece Deborah D. May, and nephews Robert T. May and Benjamin May all of Templeton, MA.
MAY -- A memorial service will be held in Hebron, N.H. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the High Fives Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps injured athletes involved in winter sports.
