Bertil Peterson passed away January 22, 2015 in Sacramento Calif. at the age of 95. Bertil lived a full and vibrant life playing golf well into his 95th year. He was born in Fresno, November 14, 1919. He attended UC Davis and graduated from UC Berkeley. During World War II, Bertil was a U.S. Navy test pilot flying Corsair, Bobcat and Hellcat fighters. On September 30, 1943, he married the love of his life, Roberta, and they were together until she died May 18, 2006. He farmed for 20 years in Madera, Calif. raising a variety of crops, including cotton, alfalfa, black-eyed peas, and sweet potatoes; as well as growing raisin grapes for the Sun Maid corporation. The farm was sold in 1966 where upon Bertil became a real estate broker in Fresno, involved in building condominiums. Bertil was an avid golfer and football fan (Go Bears Go Ducks), and in retirement Bertil and Roberta continued to hone their skills on greens and fairways from California to Oregon. Bertil is survived by his sister Hazel, age 99, of Huntington Beach, Calif.; three children, Claudia Ashby and husband Richard of Sacramento, Tim Peterson and wife Heather of Grass Valley, and Josel Beamer and husband Gary of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren, Joshua Peterson and wife Stacy, Erinn Peterson, and Joseph Peterson; and three great-grandchildren Zane, Scarlett, and Timothy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Selma of Sweden; brother Milton; and his sister Margaret. A private family service was held in Roseville, Calif.
