Marilyn Pratt Woodworth, 85, of Shelburne died peacefully on October 17th, 2015, with her loving husband, Bob, at her side. Born in Bennington, VT, she grew up in North Bennington, where she met her high-school sweetheart, Robert Cummings Woodworth, whom she married in 1952, upon graduation from the University of Vermont with a degree in Home Economics. They then pursued their graduate degrees at Penn State and subsequently moved to Maryland, where Marilyn was employed by the USDA Laboratories and Bob, at NIH. In 1961, they returned home to Vermont and UVM, where she was an instructor in Home Economics and he taught Medical Biochemistry. They have since lived in Shelburne, where they raised their three children, Natalie (Billings), Charles, and Hope, and have been very active in the UVM, Shelburne, and church communities. Marilyn particularly enjoyed her involvement as docent at the Fleming Museum, with the Plant Ladies at Mary Fletcher Hospital, in PEO, for Meals on Wheels, in her churches, and was always activist in civil, human, and women’s rights, as well as, for the betterment of the lives of those less fortunate. She and Bob enjoyed many travels together, far and wide, as well as, a wide array of cultural events, to which Bob lovingly continued to bring her up to the end. In 2007, they moved to Wake Robin in Shelburne, where they made many fine friends.
Marilyn leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Bob, their three children, and their grandsons, Jireh, Nathaniel, and Calder Billings of Woodstock, VT.
