MARY BEATRICE GURNEY – Peacefully on January 17, 2006 in the Extendicare/Oakview Place, Mary passed away at the age of 95 years.
Mary was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1910. She came to Canada with her family in 1921 and resided in the West End of Winnipeg for many years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Beatrice and Thomas Matthews; husband James; son Glenn; sisters, Elizabeth and Catherine Matthews, Ellen Lloyd, Beatrice Bull, and brothers, William and George Matthews.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Shelagh and husband Mike Ralph; son Ron and his wife Marlene; daughter Bernice and husband Mel Feeney and daughter-in-law Carolyn Gurney. Mary will be sadly missed by her nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was very close to her family who visited often with her. During those visits she enjoyed the opportunity to talk and laugh, especially with the grandchildren and great-grand children. Mary had fond memories of her 10 years at the Eastern Star Chalet before relocating to the Extendicare/Oakview Place. The family would like to thank the staff of the Oakview Place for their care and kindness shown to our mother during her brief stay.
