      OBITUARY NOTICES VELTA ELSIE ALKSNIS Velta Elsie Alksnis of MB passed away on April 1999 at the Winnipegosis District MB at the age of 70.
       Velta was born on September at Dau MB to Peter and Elsie Dinber Yaeger and was raised on the family farm in the Oak MB Velta attended Teachers Col lege in Winnipeg and then returned to the area she knew so well where she then taught school at Rorketon and Janowski She then worked as an Operating Room Technician in Winnipeg and was also involved with the Canadian Army In in March Velta was united in marriage to Alfred Together they remained in Winnipeg and began a In 1969 they returned to the family farm with their five children and began a dairy cattle opera At this point in her life she served a num ber of terms as a School Trustee in the Duck Mountain School Division as well as wrote a col umn for the Dauphin In Velta re ceived training as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Boniface Following this she worked as an in Dauphin and Winnipegosis until retirement in Veltas interests were many and She enjoyed writing and treasured time spent with her grandchil Velta was a loving mother and She was a resource ful person that touched the lives of many peo Velta will be sadly missed and her absence will be felt by all that knew.
       Left to mourn her passing and to cherish fond memories are her husband Alfred Alksnis of MB daughter Gaida Alksnis of Winnipeg Alfred Alksnis of Rorketon Norman Alksnis and wife Theresa of John Alksnis and wife Kim of Winnipeg Andy Alksnis and wife Colleen of Winnipeg grand Dillon and Kyle sister Velma and her husband Mickey Abramchuk of Winnipeg brother Roy Yaeger and wife Maureen of Van BC as well as many cousins and extended family throughout the United States.
       She was pre deceased by her Peter and Elsie Yaeger and one brother Norman.
       Cremation has taken place and a memorial tribute was be held on April 23 in the Rorketon Community MB with Pastor Glenn Widdis Friends who so desire may make memorial donations to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke The Riverside Evergreen MB have care of the funeral
