      MacDonald, Derek Leroy – age 44, Aylesford Mountain, Kings, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Berwick, he was a son of Colin “Collie” MacDonald, (Marie Pineo-MacDonald), Lakeville and the late Freda (Sweeney) MacDonald.
       Derek had been employed at Easson Transport, Berwick, for several years. He was a former member of the Berwick & District Volunteer Fire Department and was a founding member of the Berwick Leos Club. Derek was an avid softball and dart player and had been in several dart leagues including the Morristown Mixed, Valley Fire Department Men’s, Valley Men’s and the Mixed at the Royal Canadian Legion, Berwick.
       Besides his father & step-mother, he is survived by his children, Devan, MacKenzie, Sydney and Hannah, and their mother, Kimberley MacDonald, Berwick; companion, Carolyn DeEll and step-son, Connor Gray, Aylesford Mountain; brothers, Mark (Barb) MacDonald, Gregory MacDonald & sister-in-law, Cynthia MacDonald, Morristown; sisters, Debbie (Skip) Griffin, Aylesford; Michelle (Troy) Tupper, Morristown; several nieces and nephews.
       Visitation will take place from 7-9 p.m., Sunday evening in the Morristown Community Centre, 10 Prospect Rd., Morristown. Funeral Service will take place 2 p.m., Monday, September 29, in the Morristown Baptist Church, 6557 Aylesford Rd., Morristown. Pastor Chad Clements officiating, with burial in the Berwick Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to the Berwick & District Ringette Association or to the Burlington Community Club.
