MOUNT MORRIS — Martin Palmer of Mount Morris died Tuesday in a Rochelle nursing home following an extended illness. Mr. Palmer, a retired farmer, was employed by Kable News Co. here for 11 years.
He was born June 8, 1886, in Mount Morris Township, son of David and Harriet (Sliefer) Palmer. He married Iva Poole in DeKalb in 1954. Surviving are his widow; four sons, John of Byron, George of Leaf River, Marlin of Charlotte, N.C., and Daniel of Rockford; two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Florence) Lestikow and Mrs. Edna Davis, both of Mount Morris; a stepson, Paul Judah of Monroe Center; 10 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elsie Vaughn of Rockford.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Finch Funeral Home here. The Rev. John Peterson, pastor of Evangelical Free Church, Mount Morris, will officiate, Burial will be in Silver Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 1 tonight at the funeral home.
