Asbury, William Don “Wild Bill”, 90, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, 10/20/07, at Menorah Manor Nursing Home. Born in Charleston, WV on April 1, 1917, he came to St. Petersburg in 1957. He was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church and the Celebration Sunday School Class. He served in the Army during WW II with the 250th Combat Engineers in Europe. He worked at the St. Pete Post Office where he retired in 1979. He was a member of Northside Lodge #283, West Virginia Society, an avid golfer and tennis player in his younger years.
Survivors include his wife Polly, sons, Michael, Orlando, Ronald, Goodland, Kansas; daughters, Donna Linville, Mt. Vernon, OH, Gerri Rouse, St. Petersburg; a brother, Wylie Asbury Jr., Layton, UT; 3 sisters, Imogene Burns, Charleston, WV, Jewel Asbury, St. Petersburg, Mary Lou Wolfe, Alva, FL; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or Fifth Ave Baptist Church.
