Rex A. Stukenberg, age 54, lifelong Byron area resident, died Wednesday January 22, 2014 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. He was born August 5, 1959 in Rockford, the son of Russell and Sylvia (Siebert) Stukenberg. He attended Byron High School and was employed for 30 years at Chrysler in Belvidere, retiring in 2008. Rex loved hunting, fishing and four-wheeling, was a member of the NRA and AMA and an avid Chicago Bears fan. Rex is survived by his fiancé, Virginia Taylor of Byron; brothers James (Mary) Stukenberg and David (Julie) Stukenberg, both of Byron; sisters: Cynthia Stukenberg of Chana, Teresa (Thomas) O’Connor of Rockford, Kimberly (Tom) Gabel of Oregon and Crystal (Kevin) Nesemeier of Byron; many nieces and nephews; and god-children, Jessica and Ronnie Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents and nieces, Heather & Tammy. Funeral services will be held at 6:00pm Monday, January 27 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon, preceded by a visitation beginning at 4:00pm. Pastor David Demmer will officiate.
