Burkholder, Anna (Cassens), 86, rural Milledgeville, died Monday afternoon at Community General Hospital where she had been a patient for the past week. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Woodin Funeral Home in Milledgeville with the Rev. James Black, pastor of the Milledgeville Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will be in South Elkhorn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Anna Burkholder was born July 13, 1888 in rural Sterling, one of 16 children of George and Louise (Schrader) Cassens. She was baptized in St. John’s Church in Sterling. She married Jacob Burkholder at Dixon on Feb. 9, 1907. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Roy (Ethel) Smith, Mrs. Glenn D. (Caroline) Miller and Mrs. Marvin (Ruth) Cheeseman, all of Milledgeville, Mrs. Richard (Marcella Haney of Texas and Mrs. Benton (Hazel) Ruff of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; two sons, Kenneth Burkholder of Sterling and Hase Burkholder of Mt. Carroll, 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Verhon (Louise) Schultz of Lanark; three brothers, Bernard Cassens and Theodore Cassens, both of rock Island and Art Cassens of Lancaster, Pa. Funeral services for Mrs. Jacob Burkholder were conducted Thursday afternoon at the Woodin Funeral Home. The Rev. James Black, pastor of the Milledgeville Brethren Church, officiated. Mrs. Earl Woodin was organist for the service. Mrs. Lewis Glenn, soloist, sand "Just As I Am." Robert Furgason of Mt. Carroll, Ivan Livingston, Carl Kackbarth, Lewis Glenn, Leslie Richter, and Kyle Turner served as pallbearers. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thorngren, Mrs. Kyle Turney, Mrs. Robert Schryver, and the Milledgeville Greenhouses cared for the floral tributes. Burial was in South Elkhorn cemetery.
