Mary Josephine Rosson King, 77, passed away on June 18, 2008 in Atlanta, Georgia surrounded by family. Mary was born on November 22, 1930 in Newport, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Paul King, her son-in-law John Relyea, her brother-in-law Kenneth King and her nephew Brian King.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Lloyd Charles King, Jr. Together Mary and Charles raised seven children. Mary’s surviving children and their spouses are: Marsha and Nathan Miles of Dallas, TX; Kendra King of Atlanta, GA; Margaret and Paul Pennington of Cincinnati, OH; David King of Houston, TX; Dan and Debra King of Atlanta, GA; Sarah and David Bowen of Alpharetta, GA; Rebecca and John Kiest of Houston, TX. Mary was a beloved grandmother to her 23 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother Walter Blanchard, Jr., of Mountainburg, AR; and by two sisters: Sherry Stuart of Scottsdale, AZ and Nancy Reardon of Phoenix, AZ.
Mary and Charles raised their family in Fort Smith, Arkansas and were active members of Central Christian Church for many years. The couple moved to Atlanta, Georgia in December 2006 to be closer to family and medical facilities. Mary was a beloved wife, mother and friend and was a blessing to all who had the privilege to know her. Mary radiated constant kindness and patience, and daily strove to encourage those around her in words and deeds. She consistently set an inspiring example of gentle faith and love, which is her legacy to her family. She was a faithful Christian woman who lived to help and serve others. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, June 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at H.M. Patterson Funeral Home - Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 21, at 11a.m. at Patterson’s Oglethorpe Hill Chapel. Interment will be Monday, June 23, 2:30PM at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia.
