WINSLOW — Helen Michalis, died peacefully of natural causes in Newport, RI, on January 30, 2017. She was 98 years old.
Helen was pre-deceased by her husband John G. Winslow, her son Blair F. Baldwin, and her sister Martha M. Hare.
She is survived by her son W. Barton Baldwin, her Grandson Blair F. Baldwin Jr., and her brother, Clarence F. Michalis.
Born in 1919, Helen attended The Chapin School in New York City, and spent her early years both in the City and in Garrison, New York. Always gregarious and outgoing, Helen spent many years in various volunteer endeavors, to include Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. She was a member of the Colony Club in New York, The Spouting Rock Beach Association in Newport, RI and the Clambake Club also in Newport, RI.
A private memorial service will be held at St. Thomas Church Chapel, 1 West 53rd Street, New York, New York at a future date to be determined. Donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the Robert Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
