Janett (née Shaw) Shirley Beatrice passed away on November 14th, 2006, in Victoria, BC. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Sidney Janett in 2005. She is survived by her daughters Susan R. Janett of Harrison Hot Springs, BC, Donna M. Wickett (Wayne) of Victoria, BC, Caron E. Janett-Smythe (William) of Campbell River, BC as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Alberta, Saskatchewan and England. Shirley was born in Calgary on April 17, 1932. Attended Connaught and Canada Western High School both in Calgary, AB and Bible School in North Battleford, SK. She worked as a receptionist for doctors in Calgary for 10 years. On June 4th, 1955, she married Sidney Janett in Banff, AB. Active in the music ministry with the Nazerene and Lutheran churches in Calgary for many years, and in Christian radio. First singing at twelve years old and playing for various gospel ministries, including the Sunday morning program at 7:30am. She played for the first Christian TV program in Calgary. Shirley was also an active volunteer with the Girl Guides. In 1974, Shirley moved to Campbell River with her family, and assisted her husband Sid at the Sutton Funeral Home. Along with her husband, she provided a home for young people involved with the Rotary exchange program and other international organizations. Also volunteering at the Campbell River Hospital. Between 1975 and 1986 she was an organ teacher and organized the Campbell River/Courtenay Organ Club, and she continued to be an organist in churches both in Campbell River and Courtenay until the mid 1990s. She then moved to Courtenay with her husband in 1991, where they managed Driftwood Mini-Storage. In 1997, Sidney and Shirley moved to Victoria.
