Sidney Janett of Victoria, BC passed away April 8, 2005, aged 75 years. He is survived by his wife Shirley (nee Shaw); daughters, Susan R. Janett of Harrison Hot Springs, BC, Donna M. Wickett (Wayne) of Victoria, and Caron E. Janett-Smythe (William) of Campbell River, BC; sister Mrs. L. (Margaret) Baker of Calgary, Alta; brother Mr. Frank Janett of High River, Alta; niece Mrs. Barbara Rison (Robin) and family of Birmingham, England; nephew Mr. Paul Janett and family of Calgary, Alta.
Sidney was born in Calgary on May 29, 1929. He graduated from Grade 12 from Western Canada High School in Calgary in 1947. Joined Jacques Funeral Home for apprenticeship in 1950 and took the mortician exams for licence in Edmonton in 1952. Sidney married Shirley Shaw on June 4, 1955 and joined Leyden’s Funeral Home in Calgary in 1957. Employed at Martin’s Funeral Home in Lethbridge in 1973, then Sutton’s Funeral Home in Campbell River in 1974 till his retirement in 1991. He was then employed at Piercy’s Crematorium in 1991 in Courtenay and retired in 1996. He was a member of the Campbell River Rotary Club from 1975 to 1990. They moved to Victoria in 1997.
