WILLARD "BILL" FRY, 95 ROCKFORD —
Willard "Bill" Fry, 95, of Rockford passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Presence St. Anne Center. He was born February 27, 1920 in Adeline, IL., the son of Willard I. and Pauline (Frantz) Fry.
Bill served in the US Army during WWII in Solemn Islands and New Zealand. After returning home he met and married his loving wife of 67 years, Loretta E. Palmer. They married on June 14, 1947 in Leaf River. Bill worked for Roper Industries for 12 years and then worked for Atwood Industries as a model maker from 1958 until his retirement in 1984. Wanting to stay busy, Bill started working part time for Zanocco’s Ace Hardware for 20 years. He was a talented wood worker, making furniture and specializing in clock making. He also took time out to garden and play cards with friends. Bill loved life and enjoyed every moment he could, he will be missed dearly. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Presence St. Anne Center for the compassionate and loving care they have given.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta; sister, Gretchen (John) Thornbloom both of Rockford and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Robert and Art.
Funeral service Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Rd. with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. A private interment will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name to: Christ United Methodist Church or Presence St. Anne Center.
