      Michael Delano Owens, age 57, of Bangor, Maine, formerly of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away July 4, 2018, 9:30 p.m. at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
       He was a former member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Metropolis. He was a graduate of Massac Community High School, attended Union University of Jackson, TN and was employed with the Department of Human Services State of Maine and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
       He was preceded in death by a brother, Treven C .Ervin, grandparents Calvin and Gladys Owens and Hardin Yarbro.
       Survivors include a son, Derek C. Owens of Waterville, ME; his parents, Calvin Ralph Owens of Metropolis, IL and Gloria Jeanne Yarbro Owens of Paducah; three sisters, Tracey Williams of Charleston, MO, Ellen Owens of Metropolis, IL and Deah Nicole Librance of Chicago, IL; one brother, Kevin Ferguson of Metropolis, IL, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
       Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, July 13, 2018, 6:00 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Orlando McReynolds to officiate. Friends may call at the church from 5:30 p.m. until the funeral hour. Burial will be conducted at the Mound City National Cemetery on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 12:30 p.m.
