    1. [S4] Obituary.
MacDONNELL, Jack Walton “Wally” – 88, of Wood’s Harbour, passed away peacefully at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on Monday, March 28, 2022. Born March 23, 1934, he was a son of the late Malcolm and Elva (Jeffery) MacDonnell.
Wally was an honest and hardworking man; when he was young he moved to London, Ontario and started working in carpentry and then he went on to join the Second Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment London Ontario with the Battalion jump company as a Paratrooper. He eventually moved back home and went lobster fishing and dragger fishing until he became the production manager with BC Packers and Connor Brothers from 1960-1997. He was a faithful member of the Royal Canadian Legion of Clarks Harbour and Quebec. Wally was baptized in 2011 and could often be seen riding his scooter to church Sunday morning. He loved his family, flowers, gardening, woodworking, animals, and food (he always had to have his homemade butter!). He also always welcomed and enjoyed company from family and friends where his great sense of humor, fun and laughter was greatly enjoyed by his company.
He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Terry) Greenwood, Brigette (Jimmy) Nickerson; grandchildren, Dalton, Courtney (Jared), Shelby (Jason), Brandon (Katrina), Colby; great-grandchildren, Anna, Nathan, Bruin, Mitchell, Myles, Larkyn; sisters, Ruth (the late Lewis) Stoddard, Jean (the late Neil) Goreham; and special niece, Anne (Russel) Wickens.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by, his wife, Shirley Mae (Whynot); sister, Phyllis (Donnie) Nickerson; brothers, Malcolm (Ella), Ralph (Winnifred), and Eric.
The family would like to take this time to give a special ‘thanks’ to the doctors and nurses on 3 East and 4 North floors, Dr. J d’Eon, VON, and Pastor Phil Williams. Visitation will be held Thursday 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 2, at 2 pm at the Calvary United Baptist Church, Woods Harbour, with Pastor Phil Williams officiating. Interment to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Woods Harbour. Flowers welcome. Memorial donations in his name may be made to the VON or the Royal Canadian Legion.
