Irvin H. Otto son of Mahlon and Mary Otto was born near Aurora, Nebr., Sept 4, 1896 and passed away at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital Hot Springs, Soutth Dakota, August 6 1950 at the age of 53 years 11 months and two days.
On September 1917 he was united in marriages to Leota Sims and to this union two daughters were born. Shortly after marriage he enlisted in the United States Navy and served until the close of World War I. After the close of the war he returned to Aurora where he engaged in the real estate business for many years. He was a charter member of the Lester Harter Post of the American Legion and was a former president of the Aurora Business Men’s Club. He with his family moved to Colorado in 1939 and a year later he began to have failing health and had been an invalid for ten years.
He is survived by his wife Leota two daughters, Mrs Mary Boyd of Seattle Wash., and Mrs Shirley Nichols of Denver, Colo.; four brothers Milbum, George, Ralph, and Warren all of Denver, and a sister Mrs Helen Wintersgill also of Denver; two grandsons the sons of Mr and Mrs Robert Nichols and other relatives and a host of friends.
These words quoted from a letter to Mrs Otto from Dr Carl A Neves in charge of the hospital at Hot Springs should bring comfort in this hour of sorrow: "May you find further consolation in the knowledge that he served his country and died honored and respected by all of us”. All of the brothers and sister were present for the services, including Mr and Mrs Milbum Otto, Mr and Mrs George Otto, Mr and Mrs Ralph Otto, Warren Otto, and Mrs Helen Wintersgill, his wife Mrs Leota Otto, his daughter and husband Mr and Mrs Robert Nichols, Terry and Tommy, and a nephew Kenneth Otto, all of Denver. Pallbearers were Harlan Peard, John Quinn, I M Bengtson, Chas Whitney Jr, Ed Daniel, and Bruce Huffman. Committal was in the Aurora cemetery
