      Jeanette I. “Jan” Anderson, 75, of Rockford, died Sept. 29, 1997 in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. She was born Sept. 15, 1922, in Caledonia, Ill., daughter of Owen and Thelma (Hanmer) Griffis. She married Arnold Anderson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin Aug. 24, 1946. She was employed as a private nurse at Wesley Willows for several years and also by the Winnebago County Health Department. She was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy and a member of Salem Lutheran Church. She loved her family and gardening.
       Survivors include her husband, Arnold; daughter, Barbara (David) Filarski of Peoria; two sons, Russell (Sherynn) of Minocqua, WI, Roger (Jodi) Anderson of Rockford; seven grandchildren and a great-grand-daughter, and a brother, Wendall (Leatha) Griffis of Rockford.
