Daniel Frederick Porter, age 62, died at home on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, in Apopka, Florida.
Danny was born in Bakersfield, California, to Livingstone (Bud) and Patricia McCorriston Porter. The family lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, and when Danny was in the fourth grade moved to Littleton, Colorado. He graduated from Arapahoe Senior High School in Littleton, Colorado, class of 1967. He was drafted in to the United States Army and served our country in Vietnam. He then attended Bethany University in Santa Cruz, California, upon his discharge. Danny was an entrepreneur and he loved his profession in the contracting business. He traveled the world doing what he loved and every project he was awarded was always fit right in his wheelhouse. He contracted with the United States Government providing project management for projects in Japan, Europe, Korea, Okinawa, and the United States. He worked on a project in Dubai and was recently on a project in Libya when the civil war broke out. He was rescued by the British government who chartered a boat from Libya to Turkey and he then flew to Dubai and on to The United States home. Danny was an avid cyclist and his dream was to cycle across the United States. Danny was loved by many. He always tried to encourage others and had kind words for everyone. He is survived by his wife, Carol, two children by a previous marriage, Christian and his wife Tami and children Kevin, Kyle and Ashleigh, and daughter Jennifer, and four stepsons, Chad and his wife Tina and children Brittany, Kevin, and Charles, Matt and his wife Jennifer and children Matthew and Sean, Chris and his wife Aivel and children Natalia and Braden and Brett and his wife Amy and daughter Jordynn and two brothers Larry and Jim and one sister Barbara and their families. Danny will be missed by all that knew him. He was very loving, caring person who embraced life with great interest, integrity, and a wonderful sense of humor. A celebration of Danny’s life will be held at DeGusipe Funeral Home and Crematory, 9001 N. Orlando Avenue, Maitland, Fl 32751, Saturday July 2, 2011. The viewing will be at 1:00 pm and the celebration will be at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow the service in the upstairs hall.
