WINNEBAGO —
Orville E. Towne, 72, of Winnebago died Saturday afternoon, April 19, 2003, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center after a short illness. Born Oct. 4, 1930, in Rockton, the son of Harry and Alma Pearson Towne. He attended Hononegah High School in Rockton. Orville married Mae Snyder Jan. 23, 1965, in Rockford. Before his marriage, Orville was engaged in farming. When he and Mae moved to Winnebago, he was employed by DeGrote Grain and Feed Co. Orville was then employed by Atwood Mobile Products as a machine operator for 35 years until retiring. He enjoyed fishing and country music, but most enjoyed being with his grandchildren.
Surviving family include his wife, Mae Towne stepdaughter, Susan (Irvin) Dunaway sons, Jerry Towne and James Towne, all of Winnebago grandchildren, Keith Dunaway of Winnebago, Kyle (Robin) Dunaway of Loves Park, Dawn Dunaway of Winnebago and Brittany, Shawn and Jenna Towne, all of Loves Park brother, Rodney (Joan) Towne of Rockford sisters, Louise Revels of Hillsboro, Wis., Alice (Owen) Jamison of Machesney Park and Lola (Raymond) Heinz of New Lisbon, Wis. stepbrother, Harry (May) Towne of Vancouver, Wash. aunt, Ella (Everett) Meyers of South Beloit and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son, David Wayne Towne brother, Rex Towne and granddaughter, Marsha Dunaway.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with the Rev. Gary R. Turner, pastor of New Life Bible Church in Winnebago, officiating. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established to the family. 4-22-2
