    1. [S4] Obituary.
Lavon Irene Riplow (Suman) — A long time resident of Ann Arbor, was called home to be with the lord on September 11, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Born March 7, 1924 to Edward and Mabelle Suman in Hughes County, South Dakota. They moved to Mt. Pleasant, Michigan in 1927. Around 16 years of age, she moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan.
March 27, 1971, Lavon married Russ Crisovan of Saline, Michigan. Lavon loved being on the farm and working the fruit stand. She loved the new life she had been granted and stayed busy caring for her children and step-children.
January 9, 1981, Lavon married Harold Riplow. They lived in Cranbrook Towers for over 25 years. She enjoyed going to visit with family and friends over the years and watching her Grand Children grow to be adults and having their own children. Her Grandkids were everything to her. She had twin Great Grand-Daughters that were born on her birthday, which she thought was the greatest thing.
Lavon loved to play Bingo and Pennies. She played faithfully every week with her friends at Cranbrook Towers until she was no longer able to. She had volunteered over the years with the Disabled American Veterans. Lavon was a caring, giving person she always made sure to help the other residents where she lived, whether it was to sit with a resident so they weren’t alone or doing their grocery shopping. She and Harold worked several years at Washtenong Memorial Park. Although she hadn’t baked in several years, she had a passion for baking. At Christmas she would make the best fudge and the most incredible lemon meringue pie from scratch. For birthdays she would always bake a cake with her traditional chocolate/peanut butter frosting.
In 2008, Lavon had to be moved to a Senior Living residence and then her final move in 2011 where she resided with her Guardian Angels, Janie and Jim Andreoli, who loved her dearly and cared for her as if she were family.
Lavon is survived by her Sister, Mildred (Dan) Milliken, Sister-n-law, Irene (Bob) Suman, Cousin, Virginia (Arthur) Layfield, her Children, Roy (Jackie) Richards, Gerald (Carolyn) Richards, Leo Richards, Eugene (Diane) Richards, Carolyn (Bruce Schaible) Hagen and Danny Richards, her Step-Children, Shirley (George) Day, Russell Crisovan, Alice (Ken) Wimple, Michael (Colleen) Crisovan, Marion (Steve) Clark and Anna (George) Miller. She is also survived by several Nieces, Nephews, Great-Nieces/Nephews and many Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, who will all miss her dearly.
Lavon is proceeded in death by her parents, her brother, Bob Suman, her late husband Harold Riplow, Russ Crisovan and Roy Richards.
