Betty Jane (Rowe) Monninger, 78, of Waynesboro, Pa., passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at her home.
Born Sept. 2, 1933, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Paul Ellis and Myrtle Elizabeth (Rudisill) Rowe. Betty enjoyed puzzle books, soap operas and bird watching. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 21 years, Leroy Elwood Monninger. Betty is survived by a daughter, Norma Young and husband, Norvil, of Greencastle, Pa.; two sons, Ken Monninger and wife, Brenda, of Fort Loudon, Pa., and Gerald Monninger and wife, Mary, of Mercersburg, Pa.; three sisters, Pauline Monninger, Catherine West and Linda Blough; a brother, George Rowe, all of Waynesboro; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Betty was preceded in death by her companion, Charles Garlock.
A funeral service will be Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Joe Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
