      Helen I. Palmer, 96, of Forreston, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at FHN Memorial Hospital. Born June 8, 1918, in Oregon, IL; the daughter of Harry and Charlotte (Griswold) Hardesty. Helen was a homemaker and housewife. She married George Palmer on November 11, 1939. He died August 6, 1997. For many years she attended Leaf River Methodist Church. Helen was an avid Cub fan and a member of the Merry Martha Club for many years.
       Survivors include two sons, G. LaVerne (Sandra) Palmer of Good Year, AZ and Jason (Jaime) Palmer of Batavia, IL; two daughters, Gail (James) Butler of DeKalb, IL and Sharon (John) Redler of El Mirage, AZ; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
       Preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; and two sisters.
       Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Silver Creek Cemetery, Leaf River. Rev. Robert Patin will officiate. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her memory.
