MRS. MAX M. MANDELLAUB WASHINGTON. April 30 (AP) — Mrs. Barbara Skinner Mandellaub, private secretary to Lowell Mellet when he was administrative assistant to President Roosevelt, died Monday in Frankfurt, Germany, where her husband, Max Mandellaub, is a legal and economic counsel. Mrs. Mandellaub was a sister of Carlton Skinner, former Washington newspaper man who resigned recently as first civilian Governor of Guam. Whith her husband, a State Department employee, she went to Germany where she was Chief of Archives and later acting secretary general to the United States military tribunals in Nuremberg. In 1950 she was appointed special representative to the United States High Commissioner for Germany, John J. McCloy. Surviving also are her mother, Mrs. Marian W. S. Beach; her father, Dr. Macy M. Skinner, and another brother.

Vater: Macy M. Skinner, wohnhaft in Rehoboth Beach / Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika. Mutter: Marian Skinner geborene Junkins, wohnhaft in Los Altos / Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika. Mrs. Mandellaub, native of Palo Alto, dies in Europe Mrs. Barbara Skinner Mandellaub, chief archivist and later acting secretary general of the US. military tribunals In the war crimes trials In Nuremberg, Germany, died April 27 in Frankfurt, according to word received here. Mrs. Mandellaub was a native of Palo Alto, and was the daughter of Mrs. Marian W. Beach of Los Altos and sister of former Gov. Carlton Skinner of Guam, temporarily living In Los Altos. Following her service on the war crimes staff, Mrs. Mandellaub was appointed special representative of the- then US. high commissioner for Germany, John J. McCoy. Her job was to transfer the official court records of the International Military Tribunal from Nuremberg to the Peace palace at The Hague, Holland, and to direct and supervise their extensive classification and specifications there. Mrs. Mandellaub is survived by her husband, Max Mandellaub, legal and economic counsel; her mother; and by two brothers, Prof. Selby M. Skinner and Carlton Skinner, first civilian governor of Guam. News of Mrs. Mandellaub’s death was received from Mrs. Beach, who is living temporarily in Frankfurt.
