    1. [S4] Obituary.
      OREGON — Joseph S. Franklin of rural Oregon died Monday morning in Americana Nursing Home, Rochelle, following an extended illness.
       Mr. Franklin, a resident of the area for 48 years, was a retired farmer and was employed at Kable Printing Company, Mount Morris. He was a veteran of World War I. Born April 22, 1896, in Huron, he was the son of Napoleon and Emma (Burton) Franklin. On June 1, 1922, he married Martha Slifer in Oregon.
       Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Orley (Helen) Anderson of Rockford and Mrs. Gerald (Lois) Abrahamson of Blair, two sons, Joseph E. of Rockford and Robert of Oregon; 16 grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; a brother, Virgil of Dixon; and three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Kopp of Villa Park, Mrs. Mildred Dublo of Milledgeville and Mrs. Sylva Polando of San Diego, Calif.
       Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Finch Funeral Home, Mount Morris. Burial will be in Silver Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight.
