    5. [S4] Obituary.
Many friends were grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. H. M. Haulman which occurred Thursday at noon at the Methodist hospital where she had been taken two days before with a possible hope that her life might be at least prolonged, altho it was known at the time that her condition was very critical.
Carrie G. Rowe (Haulman) was born July 6th, 1874; died at the M. E. hospital, Feb. 14th, 1929, age 54 years, 6 months and 8 days.
She was born and grew to womanhood on the old home farm five miles southeast of Dallas Center. She attended and finished the common school course of the day and also attended Mt. Morris college several years.
She was married to Harry H. Haulman Feb. 26th, 1905, with whom she spent twenty-four years of happy, affectionate association. To them were born two sons, one dying in infancy.
She united with the church when about fourteen years of age and her Christian experience, while a blessed experience to herself, proved a benediction to many others. She was of a genial and affectionate disposition, loved her home, family and friends. She tenderly cared for her aged parents for about five years, did it with a sincerity of purpose and a willingness of mind and heart that bespoke the joy she felt in the doing of it; and while the brothers and sisters appreciated what Carrie and husband did for the parents, they yet feel that they owe her a debt of gratitude that can never be paid.
Her health had not been the best for several years past, then some five weeks ago she had an attack of the flu which left her in a very debilitated condition and with heart weakness. This, coupled with other constitutional disorders, which were not exactly agreed upon or understood by the medical fraternity, caused her death.
She is survived by her devoted husband and son, Charles, four brothers and one sister, and a host of near kin folks. Aside from these many friends of years’ standing, will mourn her departure.
