    1. [S4] Obituary.
      Leonard C. Nance was born at Eminence, Missouri, the son of Noah and Ida Scott Nance. He came to Iowa at the age of 9 months and was educated in the schools of Dallas County. Death came on May 1, 1976 at the Iowa Methodist Hospital, in Des Moines of lung cancer, at the age of 63 years.
       On October 10, 1932 he married Mildred Sheaffer and the couple engaged in farming in the Community Center area, northwest of Adel.
       He is survived by two daughters, Janice O’Dell, Olathe, Kansas, and Carolyn Childers, Houston, Texas; also two sons, Larry of Des Moines and Norman of Ankeny, as well as 13 grandchildren.
       Also surviving are one brother, Hearchel, of Adel, and four sisters, Velma House, Woodward, Alberta Heckman, Anita, Ola Horney, Newton and Pearl Wilson, Adel.
       He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
