Dale was born July 10, 1943 in Stuart, Iowa to Milford and Jessie (Messamer) Blomquist. As a youth he helped on the family farm and was active in 4-H and FFA. He graduated from Stuart High School with the class of 1961. He then went on to graduate from Iowa State University and Kansas State University, receiving his Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics. While in Manhattan, Kansas, Dale met Darlene Hoffsommer. On August 26, 1967 they were married in Hutchinson, Kansas. To this union brought three children: Scott, Anisa, and Daren. Dale followed God’s calling, leaving his beloved Iowa to serve as missionary in Nigeria, Africa. While there he taught at Kent Academy near Jos and a number of other schools. He taught junior high, coached sports and helped with the school’s agricultural farm that fed hundreds of students and staff. Dale was the steady hand teaching a generation of young men in the school’s wood shop and was affectionately known to the students simply as "Mr. B." After 18 years of service in Nigeria, the family moved to Wichita, Kansas where Dale continued missionary work helping university students and immigrants from all over the world with their transition to America. He retired to Greenfield in 2012, where he hoped to help on the family farm. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Stanzel. Dale enjoyed people. He went to great lengths to visit people anywhere he went. His passion above all was to show the love of Christ to all people he encountered throughout the world. Dale is preceded in death by his father.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 45 years: Darlene of Greenfield; children: Scott Andrew Blomquist working in Lisbon, Portugal, Anisa Joy Blomquist.
