Nadine Marie Britson was born on a farm one and one-fourth miles south of Grimes, Iowa on September 23, 1924, and passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, at the age of 90 years, five months, ten days. She was proud to have made it to 90 years and had a wonderful celebration of life with friends and family last September.
Nadine graduated from Grimes High School and did clerical work in Des Moines for 8 years. On January 3, 1951, she was united in marriage to Orlan Harold Britson, who preceded her in death 55 years ago, on August 13, 1959. To this union were born 2 children, Diane and Dennis who were born in Lisbon, North Dakota.
After marriage, she lived 8 years in several towns in North Dakota before moving to Forman, North Dakota. Upon returning to Iowa, Nadine and the children lived on a farm near Waukee for 2 years with her parents. On June 1, 1961, she moved to Dallas Center, Iowa where she was a homemaker, school cook, did house cleaning and babysitting, until she retired in 1986.
Nadine was a member of the Dallas Center First Presbyterian Church since December 2, 1962. She was a Deacon from January 1974 to January 1977. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a good neighbor who liked to help those in need.
Besides her husband, Orlan Harold Britson, she was preceded in death by her parents, John David and Ida Grace (Robertson) Peitzman, and her siblings, Milton Lynn Peitzman, Wayne Peitzman and Neva Bartelt; and her long-time companion, Ralph Coulthard. She leaves to mourn her going her two children, Diane Britson and Dennis (Barbara) Britson, two grandchildren, Joshua and Erin Winfrey, her sister, Phyllis Wise, and many relatives and friends.
