Walter Cromwell Akerley, 84, of 97 Hanover street died today at Portsmouth hospital. He was born in Wickham, New Brunswick, Dec. 24, 1865; the son of the late Bradbury and Hannah (Cromwell) Akerley. He had made his home in this city for the past 60 years. A builder and carpenter by trade, he was a member of the local carpenters’ union and a former member of the Knights of Malta. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. William Varrell of Portsmouth and Mrs. Dorothy Stoka of Yonkers, N. Y., and two grandchildren.

Funeral services for Walter C. Akerley, 84, of 97 Hanover street were held yesterday afternoon at Buckminster chapel. The Rev. John H. Feaster, D. D. pastor of the North Congregational church officiated. Included in the attendance were members of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joines of America, Local 921. Burial was in the family lot in Prospect Hill cemetery, Greenland. Bearers were Frank MacMillan, Edward Frost, William M. Varrel and Romano Stoka.
