EDWIN L. GILMORE 70 SUCCUMBS AT SANFORD
Funeral Rites Today for Father of Eddy Gilmore AP Russian Correspondent
Sanford, Dec. 12 — Edwin Luther Gilmore 70, died in the Lee County Hopsital Wednesday morning at 6 o’clock where he had been under treatment since his fall in the Sanford Hotel a number of weeks ago. Mr Gilmore was the father of Eddy Gilmore, Associated Press Correspondent, now in Moscow Russia. He was born in Moore County son of George W. Gilmore and Alice Campbell Gilmore. For a number of years he resided at Selma, Ala. He moved to Sanford several years ago and had lived here since. Funeral services will be conducted from the Miller Funeral Home here Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock by the Rev H. V. Carson pastor of the Sanford Presbyterian Church assisted by the Rev Yancey C. Elliott, Baptist minister. Interment will be in Cool Springs Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife the former Emily King of Selma, Ala.; one son Eddy Gilmore and three sisters Mrs E. F. Chisholm of Charleston S.C, Mrs Irma Gunter of Waynesboro, Va, and Mrs S. C. Groce of Sanford.
