    1. [S4] Obituary.
Lloyd L. “Jack” Doody, age 72, died Friday, June 20, 2014 at the VA Hospital at Togus following a long illness. He was born in Washburn, ME on April 24, 1942 a son of the late Lloyd and Cecilia (Mosher) Doody.
Mr. Doody was a veteran of the US Army, serving for 33 years. Jacks military career took him to many places, one being Viet Nam. His battle with his demons, both with his addiction to alcohol and the nightmares of Nam, are over. He has accepted Jesus into his heart with no reservations. Jack served two tours of duty in Germany and one tour in Viet Nam.
He was a substance abuse councilor at AMHC Residential Treatment Facility, "The Farm", located in Limestone. He was also a case manager for the Unity House in Gardiner, MA, working with homeless veterans. In working with others, Jack made amends in a way that only those who walked in his shoes could identify with.
Jacks love for a sober life touched many people along his road to continuous sobriety for so many years. His love for his fellow veterans of all eras and his respect for his fallen veterans were profound.
He was pre-deceased by two brothers: Ronnie Mosher and Eugene Doody and a sister, Betty Little.
Jack leaves behind the most important person ever to shared part of his life, his wife of nearly 4 years, Laura Mary (Smith) Doody of Windsor. Laura stayed by his side through more than 5 years of battling Lymphoma Cancer and, more recently, Leukemia. Jack also leaves behind a daughter, Ashley Ouellette of Caribou; step-daughters: Wanda Wiscombe and her husband Brian of Phoenix, AZ and Pamela Jaquith of Gardiner; grandchildren: Brennan Wiscombe, Lauren Wiscombe, John J. "JJ" Jaquith, Sheneze Jaquith and Dominic LaForest; a brother, Laurell "Ted" Doody and his wife Joyce of Fort Fairfield; a sister, Joyce Plummer and her husband Merle of Presque Isle; numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of his and Laura’s family, his little buddy, Max, who would never leave his side, and some very special people, you know who you are, who have helped Jack stay sober for over 25 years.
A special thanks to those who attended to Jack through his battle with cancer at the VA Hospital at Togus, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH and the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. Thank you also to nieces Susan O’Clair, Kork Little and nephew Stephen Doody for being there for him in his times of need.
To all that knew Jack, know that he kept his sense of humor until his last moments. “To my wife, Laura, I feel I loved you from the first time I met you. I will always love you!”
Following cremation, burial with military honors will be at a later date at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta. Those who desire may make donations in Jack’s memory to: Laura Doody, c/o Lucille Marble, 124 Burns Rd., Augusta, ME, 04330.
