      Hazel M. Stewart-Lawry, 86, of Moncton, with loving members of her family at her side, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday, December 6, 2009. Born in Dorchester, she was the daughter of the late Alvyn and Olivia (Duffy) Kinnie. Hazel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was a member of St. John’s United Church since 1942, twenty year member and past president of the church choir and the ladies chorus, twenty year church elder, past president and life member of the U.C.W., co-founder and director of the first Cherub Choir. She was a member of Frank H. Tingley #5 O.E.S. in which she held several offices, former member and past vice regent of Fort Monckton Chapter I.O.D.E. and past president of the Greater Moncton Chorale.
       Hazel will be sadly missed by her sons, James Stewart (Shauna), Ingonish, NS; Dr. Andrew Stewart (Chris), Bedford, NS; grandchildren, Barbara Stewart, Halifax, NS; Bonnie White, Saint John; Wendy Stewart, Halifax, NS; Michael Stewart, Bedford, NS; Bruce Stewart, Truro, NS; great grandchildren, C.J. White, Saint John and Rowan Andreas Stewart, Bedford, NS; special cousin, Kay Klimock; special niece, Barbara Hopper; special friend for many years, Audrey Munroe (Norman), Moncton.
       In addition to her parents, predeceased by her husbands, Burnley Stewart (1992) and Kenneth Lawry (2002); sisters, Jean, Doris and Ruth.
       In keeping with Hazel’s wishes, no visitation hours. A Celebration of Life Service for Hazel will be held at St. John’s United Church, Alma Street, Moncton, Thursday December 10, 2009, 11:00 am. Rev. Aaron Billard officiating. Reception in the church hall following the service. Interment, Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. In Hazel’s memory, donations to Friends of the Moncton Hospital, Canadian Cancer Society or memorial of choice would be appreciated.
