Helen Maude (Barnett) Coffman, 86, of Cave Creek, AZ passed away Monday, July 24, 2017 at her home. She was born October 3, 1930 to Rial A. Barnett and Maude E. (Ponton) Barnett in Clifton, Arizona. She was married to Dean W. Coffman until his passing in 2011.
Helen was much loved by her family and friends, always showing love and compassion to all she knew. Her motherhood tendencies extended well past her own children, in many cases to their friends, which she was also known as mom. Her love for animals and the importance of their place in family was a high priority as she had very special connections with all animals she met and cared for. She loved to travel, remembering details of each and every trip. She brought home a memento from everywhere she visited. Her interests were many including genealogy, the arts, and antique collecting. Helen loved to talk about her childhood days of living on the Double Circle Ranch in southeastern Arizona and then moving to Phoenix after losing her father in 1938.
Helen is survived by her children, Gary, Dennis, Randy, Jeff and Deana of Phoenix, AZ and Rick now living in Ecuador, one brother George R. Barnett, one sister Betty J. (Barnett) Hightower, eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; 2 great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Messinger’s Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85251. Interment will follow at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 E. Shea Bvd., Scottsdale, AZ 85260. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, July 31, 2017 at the funeral home in Scottsdale, AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be made to Hospice of the Valley.

Mrs. Maude Barnett yesterday announced the betrothal of her daughter. Miss Helen Maude Barnett, to Dean William Coffman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Coffman. The principals are native Phoenicians. Miss Barnett’s father is the late Rial Barnett. The prospective bridegroom is studying architecture at Phoenix College. No date has been set for the nuptials.
