William Dennis Coffman, 66, of Phoenix, AZ passed away peacefully Friday, August 25th at 5:40 am. Dennis was a native to Arizona, born August 7th, 1951 to Helen Maude (Barnett) Coffman and Dean William Coffman. He was married to Cheryl Lynn Coffman.
Dennis was much loved and respected by his friends, family and fellows in Alcoholics Anonymous where he celebrated thirty two years of continuous sobriety just days before his passing. Dennis was respected by all who knew him, through his work and his participation in AA and other 12 step fellowships. He was dedicated to helping those whose lives were ravaged by addictions and could always be counted on at a moment’s notice to make a call, do a visit or intervene for those in dire need of faith, hope and love. He lived his life according to high standards and convictions and never deviated from standing up for the right and protecting the innocent.
Dennis worked with his father as Dean and Dennis Construction, building unique custom homes designed by Dean and built by Dennis for twenty years in Desert Mountain. Dennis was known for his commitment to excellence. Dennis had a way about him that endeared him to everyone. He deeply loved and enjoyed all people and genuinely cared about helping them in any way he could. Many of his clients remain good friends to this day.
William Dennis Coffman was a complicated and passionate man. As well as his accomplishments in the building industry, he loved art and the entire creative process. A highly skilled clay artist, his work was shown for several years at the annual Hidden in the Hills artist showcase. He was extremely skilled in various design applications and his work shows his innate knowledge and his passion, manifesting in works that move the heart and the soul. Two years ago he had a vision of turning coins into rings and to that end, acquired equipment and self taught, created some of the most beautiful rings from everything from AA sobriety silver chips to coins from all over the world and centuries. Dennis had a love of the 60’s and 70’s rock and roll and to that end collected some of the most beautiful guitars which he hung in his music room.
When Dennis’s father, Dean passed away, Dennis experienced Christ Jesus touching his shoulder to comfort him. It was this experience that drew him to his wife, Cheryl. They married on November 15th, 2011 and experienced a deep love beyond words or description. Through the next few years, Dennis, like his wife, decided to practice his faith through the Holy Roman Catholic Church. He was baptized February 26th, 2017 and received the sacrament of First Eucharist and Confirmation. This was the most important day of Dennis’s life.
Dennis is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Lynn, his siblings Gary Allen, Randall Dean, Ricky Steven, Jeffrey Lee and Deana Louise as well as his two children, Troy Logan Coffman and Kaela Dee (Coffman) Minton
