      Ralph Kenneth Doughty, 81, beloved husband of Mrs. Geneva H. Fraser Doughty, died April 5, 2001 at a Caribou healthcare facility. He was born August 14, 1919 at Fort Fairfield, the son of William H and Janet Coss Doughty.
       Mr. Doughty was educated in the Fort Fairfield school system and served in the United States Army from January 1942 to December 1945 in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of War as a Construction equipment mechanic in Batter C, 50th Const. Artillery Battalion, and Batteries C and A of the 282nd Coast Artillery Battalion and earned the rank of Tec 5. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, a Victory Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and qualified as a 1st Class Marksman Rifle Gunner.
       He was married to Geneva H Fraser on April 5, 1947 and was employed for many years as a mechanic for various farmers and was a member of the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Fort Fairfield. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, small engine repair and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
       In addition to his parents, Mr. Doughty was predeceased by his son, Michael F. Doughty in 1979; nine brothers, Frankie, Rudolph, Clarence, Franklin, Harry, Arthur, Robert, Luther, and Philip Doughty; three sisters, Madaline Hansen, Mildred Estey, and Kathleen Fields.
       He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Geneva H. Doughty of Fort Fairfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wendell Doughty, Charles Doughty, and Walter and Verna Doughty, all of Fort Fairfield; and Bruce and Phyllis Doughty of Manchester, CT; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen Clark of Perth-Andover, NB, Glenda and Clarence Hillyard, and Gertrude and Bernard Smith, all of Bowdoin; 13 grandchildren, including a special grandson, Ben Satterwhite; 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
       The funeral was held April 7 at the Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield with the Revs. Rick Vincent and Randy McCausland officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, later in the spring.
