      BELFAST, FORT FAIRFIELD, and ORLANDVincent Randolph Estey, 82, died Aug. 19, 2003, at Belfast nursing facility, after a short illness. He was born May 17, 1921, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, the first child of James A. and Margaret (McNeil) Estey.
       Randy’s family moved to Fort Fairfield when he was 5. He grew up there and was a member of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1938. At 19, he married Mildred Ruth Dougthy and began raising a family. After serving in the National Guard, he worked at Farrer-Brown Hardware store in Presque Isle and at numerous other jobs over the years, including security guard at Presque Isle Air Force Base, maintenance man for B & A Railroad, heavy equipment operator for the town, carpenter, farm hand, landscape salesman, and potato inspector. In 1952, he moved his family to Presque Isle, where he owned and operated Estey’s Garage for three years with his brothers, Cecil and James Roland. After three years back at the Fort, he moved his family to Belfast in 1957, to become Waldo County office manager for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, where he once was named outstanding office manager in the northeast region. He also worked nights and weekends at Carbone’s gift shop. In 1964, he became a department manager at Maplewood Poultry. He was post commander of VFW Post No. 6131 in Northport, 1970-74, and an officer in American Legion Post No. 43 in Belfast for several years. He also was a frequent golfer, and avid fan of most sports, and a lifelong Yankees fan. After retiring from Maplewood, he worked at the mill in Bucksport and moved to Orland with his second wife, Donna (Soper) Lydick. The last two years, he lived with his daughter, Barbara Mosher, in Northport.
       Randy was predeceased by his parents; three sisters, the infant Avis Estey, her twin Ala Butler and Inez Doughty; both wives; his first-born son, Kenneth Randolph, and a grand-daughter, Melissa Vosburgh. He is survived by his mother-in-law, Phyllis Soper of Orland; sister, Cecelia Discoll, and her twin brother, Cecil, both of Fort Fairfield; and brother, James Roland of Caribou; son, David and wife, Kafen (Emery) of Belfast; three daughters, Barbara Mosher of Northport, Cheryl Gilmore and husband, Kenneth, of Corinna, and Alana Patrick and husband, Garry of Fort Myers, Fla.; six grandchildren, David Randolph Estey and wife, Colleen, of Mount Laurel, N.J.n Jessica estey of Sewel, N.H., Kim Nardone and husband, Dennis, of Belfast, Kelly Russell of New port, Tammy Long and husband, Dean, of Newport, and Stacey Gilmore and partner, Tim Cole, of Dixmont; five stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; dozens of nieces and nepheuws; cousin Ruth Rogers of Fort Fairfield and several others in Canada; special friends Mac Small of Northport, Arthur Modeen of Orland, and numerous others; and his beloved dog Casey.
       At Randy’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. However, relatives and friends may call on the family at the home of David and Karen Estey, 16 Pierce St., Belfast, 2-4 p.p. Sunday, Sept. 7, for refreshments and a celebration of his life at 3 p.m. Anyone wishing to make a donation in his memory is invited to contribute to St. Denis Parish, 43 Main St., For Fairfield, ME 04742 or to Harbor Hill Activities Fund, 2 Footbridge Road, Belfast, ME 04915. Arrangements are with the Rackliffe Funeral Home, 54 Church St., Belfast.
