    1. [S4] Obituary.
      Marion Louise (Bowlby) Kennedy – 89, Truro, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2013, at her home. Born July 10, 1923, in Wilmot, Annapolis, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Jennie (Wotton) Bowlby.
       Marion was married on September 27, 1946, to Alexander "Ken" Kennedy and they lived and raised their family in the East End of Truro where she remained until her death. She was a member of Brunswick Street United Church. Marion was part of a wonderful card group for many, many years and she and Ken also belonged to the Gyro and Gyrette Groups. In earlier years, she worked at Baird’s Flower Shop. Marion’s family was the heart of her life and her friends were a great joy. Those friendships lasted generations and she took great interest in her friend’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
       Marion is survived by her children, Dave Kennedy (Vera Abcarius), North Vancouver, British Columbia; Jim Kennedy (Lindsay), Windsor, Ontario; Anne Brook, Ottawa, Ontario; sisters-in-law, Betty Bowlby, Ottawa, Ontario; Mary Worthington, Kincardine, Ontario; many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Marion was predeceased by her husband, Alexander "Ken" Kennedy; brothers, Harold Bowlby and Arthur Bowlby. Marion and her family greatly appreciated the wonderful care given by Dr. Berghuis. Great gratitude is also extended to the VON, nieces, Linda Howell and Nancy Bowlby, and nephew, Neil (Judy) Bowlby, for their care which enabled her to stay in her own home.
       Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Marion’s family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2013, from where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 20, 2013, Reverend Kym Burke-Cole officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Robie Street Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Marion’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice are welcomed.
