Dawson, Margaret (née Cook) “Margot” 100 – of Margate, passed away on January 5, 2011. Beloved mother of Schuyler M. (Dawson) McClain. She is predeceased by her two sons Parker Reis and Christopher Cook Gilmore. She is also survived by her grandchildren Emily McClain, Parker Reis, Jr. and Maureen Reis.
Born October 16, 1910 in Washington, DC, she spent summers in Margate and eventually moved there permanently. Margot graduated with an English literature degree from George Washington University and graduated from Corcoran College of Art and Design. After raising her three children, she became a full time artist working from her studio in her Margate home. Her paintings were exhibited in local galleries, shops and restaurants and the Atlantic City Boardwalk Art Show. Her home was her primary exhibition space and her paintings covered most of the walls and sometimes the ceiling. Margot’s joyful, open-minded and exuberant personality will be missed by all who knew her.

Reis-Cook Betrothal Told
Mr. and Mrs. Parker Cook announce the engagement of their daughter, Margaret, to Mr. Maurice Reis of New York City, N.Y. Miss Cock is a graduate of George Washington University and a former student of the Corcoran Art School and Mr. Reis is a graduate of Washington and Lee University. The wedding will take place some time in January.
