PLEASANTVILLE —
Stanford (Stan) Allison Baker, passed away Wednesday, February 1st, at his home in Pleasantville. Born in New Cumberland on February 29, 1912, he was a son of the late Levi and Cordelia (Conrad) Baker.
He was a fisherman from the age of 13 until the war years when he served as engineer on freighters. Since 1948, he was a carpenter until forced to retire due to ill health.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Wotton); one son, Robert; two brothers, Vincent, New Cumberland; Elvin, Orillia, Ontario; two sisters, Queenie (Mrs. Aubrey Meisner), Lake Centre; Seretha (Reta) (Mrs. Harold McCavour), Lorneville, New Brunswick; four grandchildren; one step great grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Osbert, Burton, and Johnson, in infancy; one sister, Inez (Mrs. Firmin Lohnes).
Funeral was held at the R.A. Corkum Funeral home, Sunday, February 5, 1989, with Rev. Douglas Porter officiating. Organist and soloist was Paul Haughn who rendered beautifully “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art”, two favorites of the deceased. Pallbearers were John Whitehouse, and five nephews, Justus Baker, Cecil Baker, Philip Barry, Dalton Jodrey, and Basil Meisner. Burial was in the Pleasantville Cemetery.
