Sylvia M. Stukenberg, 81, lifelong area resident, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, in Swedish-American Hospital, Rockford. Born July 14, 1926, in Sharon, Wis., the daughter of Charles and Martha Minky Seibert. Married to Russell Stukenberg on Jan. 13, 1946, in Rockford; he died April 23, 1995.
She had been employed at Amerock in Rockford from 1971 to 1981. Most of all, she will be remembered fondly as a generous, loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Sylvia was a great artist, painting pictures of the countryside, mountains, horses and wildlife. She also enjoyed craft work and gardening.
Survived by sons, James (Mary) Stukenberg, David (Julie) Stukenberg and Rex (Virginia) Stukenberg, all of Byron; daughters, Cynthia Stukenberg and Teresa (Thomas) O’Connor, both of Chana, Kimberly (Edward) O’Brien of Oregon and Crystal (Kevin) Nesemeier of Byron; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grand-children; and brother, Norman (Doris) Seibert of Clinton, Wis.
Also predeceased by grand- daughters, Heather and Tammy; great-granddaughter, Dakota; sister, Agnes Warlow; and brother, Earl Seibert.
Service at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon, with visitation from 4 p.m. to time of service; Pastor Rich Fassig of Chana United Methodist Church will officiate. A memorial fund has been established. For more information, visit farrellhollandgale.com.
