Earle R. Doughty, 54, died Sept 13, 1999, at his home in Rumsford after a brief illness. He was born in Fort Fairfield, Feb 7, 1945, the son of Robert S. and Gertrude (Sprague) Doughty.
Earle attended Fort Fairfield schools. He served in the 8th Army 75th Transportation Co from 1969 to 1971. After returning from the Army. Earle lived and worked in the Greater Portland area for a time. He was an electrician for 37 years. He began his career working with his father in their own business building some of the largest potato houses at the time in Aroostook County. He went on to became an industrial electrician working for several firms in the area. He was also self-employed doing residential electrical work. Earle was a life time member of the Paul Lockhart Post No 5187 VFW.
He is survived by his significant other of many years, Fern Tilsley of Rumford; two daughters, Sandra Oakes and her husband, James and Sheri Doughty, all of Fort Fairfield; a son, Scott Doughty and his wife, Denise of Easton; one sister, Linda Ireland of Ogunquit; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Jr and Nadine Doughty of Norwalk, Iowa, Dale and Diana Doughty of Casco and Donn and Priscilla Doughty of Fort Fairfield; Fern’s two sons, Kyle Tilsley of Bethel and Keith Tilsley of Fort Fairfield; nine grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. he is predeceased by his parents and his stepmother, Frances Wortman Doughty.
Friends called Wednesday at Dorsey Funeral Home, 44 Lower Main St., Fort Fairfield Funeral services were held Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev Mark Babin officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Flowers are welcome or if you peffer a donation to your favorite charity.
